| The purposes for which the
American Libyan Freedom Alliance, Inc. (ALFA), was founded
are:
To inform and educate the public on the judicial and legislative
processes of the Libyan government through speeches, articles,
television appearances and other media when abuses of human
rights or violations of international law occur;
To inform and educate Libyans inside Libya and around
the globe about democracy and constitutional values through
encouraging open debate; organizing meetings, conferences,
seminars, and workshops; conducting research; and creating
media presence to disseminate information;
To inform and educate Libyans and the general public about
the Libyan people, their history, their religions, and their
many languages, cultures, and traditions; and about the
regions, geography, climates, resources, products and cities
of Libya;
To independently monitor and research the activities of
government officials or institutions of the Libyan state
to ensure that they are respecting human rights and international
law and to expose their violations;
To educate, inform, motivate and encourage the public
to create or bring about a moral and democratic society
that promotes the rule of law and respects human rights
in Libya; and
To support and encourage legal action by providing representation
or by acting in the capacity of amicus curiae when ALFA
believes abuses by the Libyan government have occurred.
