His Excellency the honorable George W. Bush,
President of the United States of America
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. President:
The American Libyan Freedom Alliance (ALFA) listened intently
to your State of the Union Address last night. All members
of Alfa were delighted to hear you reiterate your commitment
to democracy and freedom in the Middle East, and particularly
in Libya. Indeed this message has to be continuously reiterated
to reflect your administration's ongoing commitment to the
issue of democracy and freedom.
Also, in your speech on November 6, 2003, you accurately
identified tyranny as the major cause of violence, and being
responsible for the proliferation of lethal weapons and
their availability in the hands of terrorists. In that speech
you had also resolved to end the era of world tyranny and
to usher in an era of democracy, freedom, and human rights.
Alfa, being an organization with particular concern for
Libya, has identified Gadhafi as one of the most lethal
of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the country. For the past
34 years, he has abused and oppressed his people by denying
them their civil and human rights.
Mr. President, you rightly stated that Gadhafi, realizing
your resolve, decided to abandon his program of Weapons
of Mass Destruction, it was not the gentle prodding of the
Europeans, but his fear that he could face a similar fate
to that of Saddam Hussein. Tyrants utilize fear in all their
national and international affairs, and only respond to
credible threats and coercion. Members of Alfa have conveyed
a clear message to the Libyan citizens that they have a
friend in the White House who is clearly committed to their
liberation and to ending their suffering at the hands of
Gadhafi.
Sincerely,
Mohamed Bugaighis Ph.D.
Chairman, American Libyan Freedom Alliance (ALFA)
